WakaWaka is extremely proud to be represented not with one, but two 2015 CES Innovation Awards Honorees!

WakaWaka has been named a 2015 CES Innovation Awards Honoree for the WakaWaka Power+ and the WakaWaka Base. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories.

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.


Recognition for WakaWaka’s Good Industrial Design

WakaWaka’s prepaid solar product designed by Stereo Design, the WakaWaka Virtual Grid, was recognized for its Good Industrial Design at the 28th GIO awards ceremony hosted by Design Link. GIO showcases Dutch designs with an outstanding level of innovation, originality and functionality. 


The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ programme is considered the world's most prestigious business award and is held in more than 145 cities and in more than 60 countries worldwide.

WakaWaka won four of the prestigious Accenture Innovation Awards out of 525 submissions; an achievement that has not been precedented. The jury explained, "WakaWaka provides light where it's a true requirement. It's not a gadget or a toy, but it contributes to the quality of life. The altruistic character of this innovation really makes a difference for places where it's needed the most."

The WakaWaka Power is the proud winner of the ANWB/KCK Kampeer Award 2015, a Dutch award for best camping accessory. Supported by ANWB, The Royal Dutch Tourist Union.

Of the more than 40 contestants a specialist jury chose the WakaWaka Power, with an overwhelming majority, to be "The Best Camping Accessory 2015". The jury stated "It's a high-quality product made from good material with an optimal functionality. There's a clear and important vison present within WakaWaka. The Power is a sensible tool for every person who like to camp outdoors and by buying the product you also serve a higher purpose. Beause of the 'buy one = give one' principle you're helping other people while camping."





WakaWaka is very proud to have received the Social Enterprise Start-Up Award at the Social Enterprise Day 2014. 

The jury stated "start-up WakaWaka deserved this first prize, WakaWaka is a passionate social enterprise dedicated to fight Energy poverty They have the poorest people as a target group and create real impact with their high-tech, low-cost solar lamps. By utilizing the latest technology in the field of solar energy, WakaWakas are a real lifesaver for people without access to electricity." The Promotional Gift award recognizes innovative promotional products, high quality and communications potential.

Of the 223 contestants, WakaWaka received the Communications Award. Other categories were Give-away, Premium brand and Custom-made. On top of that three new categories were added: Best Practice, Finishing Technology and Packaging.

The Promotional Gift Awards were organised for the eleventh time this year by German organisation WA Media and call itself an ‘institute’ for this  branche.





The iF-label, which WakaWaka is now permitted to use, is an acknowledged symbol for high quality design. Among the contestants were high-end brands such as Samsung, LG and Apple. In addition to the permission to use the iF-label, WakaWaka has been presented in several design exhibitions across Germany in the past months.
